Roppen every day
Your holiday in Roppen
Where the wild rapids of the Ötztaler Ache meet the gentle waves of the Inn, we discover a wonderful place of contrasts - Roppen. When the depths of the Roppen gorge meet the earth pyramids and dusty waterfalls, artfully designed architecture nestles against traditional farmhouses embroidered with flowers. The tranquillity of a gentle hike to the Römerbadl, the joyful exultation of a rafting tour and a visit to the ultimate playground of Area 47. And the historic chapel at Burschl welcomes guests from all over the world. This is how we experience Roppen in all its fullness - summer and winter, quiet and lively, today and in the past.

Time travel Roppen
The history of Roppen or "Roupen", as the village was still called in its first documentary mention from 1260, goes back a long way. Over 3,000 years ago there was already a hill fort here, as finds of bones and pottery shards from the Bronze and Iron Ages suggest. In the Middle Ages, Roppen was particularly important for mining. The Silbertal valley north of the village was a mining district, a transshipment centre for the Hall salt works and an important bridge for timber rafting between Imst and Hall. The rafts were built in Roppen, loaded with ore from the Tschirgant and travelled to Hall by water.
