From Hoch-Imst take the Imster Bergbahnen to the Untermarkter Alm (alternatively hike uphill on the forest road). From the Untermarkter Alm follow the path in the direction of the "Latschenhütte" and turn right at the first fork and walk to the Malchbach. There follow straight ahead the Jägersteig, with wood-carved animals, to the Latschenhütte. From here you go uphill on a path in the direction of the "Plattigsteig". You reach the Platteinwiesen with the Narrenkreuz. Now continue to the left on the Plattigsteig, which requires surefootedness and a head for heights. The trail is well signposted, in some places rope-secured and leads through scree gullies to the Muttekopf hut. From there follow the hiking trail (no. 621) downhill to the Latschenhütte. Now hike back along the same path to the Untermarkter Alm and either take the gondola lift or the Alpine Coaster downhill. Very panoramic round below the front Platteinspitze. On the Plattigsteig go only with sure-footed children, who are best secured with a short rope or via ferrata set.
Refreshment stops: Untermarkter Alm, Latschenhütte, Muttekopfhütte, in Hoch-Imst.
