The Strad winery is idyllically located in the small hamlet of Strad, right on the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, at the foot of the mighty Tschirgant in the beautiful Gurgltal valley. Since 2008, the family has been passionately and wholeheartedly cultivating wine here, and since 2016, they have been officially producing Austrian quality wines.
The philosophy of the winery is based on a close-to-nature and gentle approach to soil and vines. The goal is to extract the best possible quality from each grape and carefully put it into the bottle. Both experience and a fine sensitivity to the particularities of the Tyrolean climate play a significant role in this process.
The vineyards are located on both sides of the Gurgltal valley – both on the sunny southern side and the cooler northern side. Over 1100 vines of various varieties grow here, including Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Solaris, Zweigelt, Rösler, Regent, and the special Baco Noir, also known as “Imster Traube.” Thanks to the warm autumn days and cool nights, the grapes ripen under perfect conditions and develop an impressive diversity of aromas.
Visitors who wish to get to know the wines are warmly welcome. Tastings are available upon request – a wonderful experience for all who appreciate regional enjoyment and true winemaking craftsmanship.
