The Miners' World Gurgltal in Tarrenz is a fascinating open-air museum that offers you a vibrant insight into the world of medieval mining. Located at the foot of the Tschirgant mountain, you can discover how the miners lived and worked around 500 years ago.
The museum consists of several faithfully reconstructed buildings, including the miners' house, the mine house, the forge, and a demonstration tunnel where you can experience the mining techniques of that time up close. The Miners' World vividly shows how the ore was extracted from the mountain and further processed.
A special highlight is the Museum of the healer from Gurgltal. Here you can learn more about a woman from the 17th century whose grave was discovered in 2008. The exhibition highlights her life and the medical practices of her time.
For families with children, the Miners' World offers exciting activities. The mascot "Maxl" accompanies young visitors on a quest through the museum. There is also a playground where children can playfully step into the role of miners.
The Miners' World is open from May to October. It is located directly on the cycling path Via Claudia Augusta, making it ideal for a stop during a bike tour. The Bummelbär also stops here, making the visit a special experience.
