The Blue Grotto in Hoch-Imst is a tunnel in the Rosengarten Gorge, created by historical mining. Silver-bearing galena was mined here as early as Roman times, presumably using the fire-setting method, where rock was made brittle by heating and cooling. The miners of that time could only extract about one centimeter per day.
Today, the grotto impresses with its unique atmosphere: trickles of water make their way through the rock, while water continuously drips from the ceiling. It is located just about a ten-minute walk below Hoch-Imst and can be accessed either through the Rosengarten Gorge or directly via a hiking trail.
