If you stroll through the festively decorated alleys of Imst during the pre-Christmas season, a very special experience awaits you: the Nativity Trail. From December 1st to January 6th, you can discover around 35 lovingly designed nativity scenes along the Upper Town of Imst.
The nativity scenes are displayed in windows, arches, and niches, showcasing classic alpine, oriental, and modern representations of the Christmas story. Especially at dusk, when the nativity scenes are illuminated from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, the trail reveals its unique magic.
The path begins at the Johanneskirche and takes you along the Malchbach through the picturesque Upper Town to the parish church. Along the way, you can admire the variety and attention to detail of the nativity scenes, created with great dedication by local artists and the Imst Nativity Association.
A special highlight is the open-air nativity scene above the Johanneskirche as well as the exhibition of the Nativity Academy in Malchbachgasse. There, you can also admire more handmade nativity scenes with intricately carved figures.
The Nativity Trail is free to access and is perfect for a cozy walk with the family. A free nativity guide is available at the Imst Tourist Association to help you avoid missing any of the artistic stations.
