Beer, wine & spirits
The Outdoorregion Imst, consisting of the municipalities of Imst, Nassereith, Mils bei Imst, Roppen, Tarrenz, Karres, Karrösten and Schönwies, is characterised not only by its scenic beauty, but also by a rich tradition in the production of beer, wine and fine spirits. These products reflect the culture and craftsmanship of the region and have been produced using traditional methods for centuries - always with high-quality regional ingredients and pure, clear spring water from the Lechtal Alps.

The brewery at Starkenberg Castle in Tarrenz, whose roots go back to 1780, has developed over the centuries into a major producer of high-quality beers. At the International Beer Olympics, the brewery has won an incredible 40 gold medals, making it Austria's most award-winning beer. In the brewery's own BierMythos adventure world, you can follow in the footsteps of the Starkenberg brewing tradition in the medieval vaults, corridors and rooms and learn interesting facts about the present and history of the art of brewing.
Guided tours are offered for groups of 15 people or more, providing deeper insights into the brewing tradition and history. A visit is also worthwhile without a guide, as information is presented in an easily understandable and appealing way.

The production of fine brandies has a long tradition in Tyrol and the outdoor region. Regional distilleries use sun-ripened fruit, which is carefully selected and processed. After fermentation, distillation takes place in copper stills, followed by a maturation period that can vary depending on the brandy. These processes result in high-quality distillates with clear fruit flavours. In addition to a variety of different schnapps and liqueurs, Schloss Starkenberg has also been producing its own whisky for several years.

Viticulture and the alpine outdoor region of Imst - what may seem surprising at first glance actually has a long and proud tradition. Favoured by the special microclimate in the Oberinntal valley, distinctive wines full of character are produced here by winegrowers with a great deal of love and care. The region's winegrowers are always happy to open their doors to guests and proudly present their wines.
Tasting sessions for large groups of up to 50 people are also possible in the inviting ambience of the Flür winery, Tyrol's first full-time winegrower. Bread and a snack can also be served with the tasting on request. Flür Winery
