This hike starts directly at the parking lot in Nassereith at the Postplatz. After a short time, you leave the village and reach wide, green meadows. The trail leads you through idyllic landscapes, surrounded by lush greenery and a fresh breeze. The path leads you through a picturesque forest. The dense needles provide pleasant shade, while the birds break the silence of the forest with their song. Progressing through the forest, you finally reach the Fernstein campsite. A clearing opens up here, offering a magnificent view of the surrounding nature. Lake Fernstein draws ever closer and the anticipation grows. You reach Fernstein Castle, which will captivate you from the very first minute. The view of the lake with its emerald green color has already captivated King Ludwig II. The trail now continues along the lakeshore. About halfway along the path, a bridge leads to a small island. The ruins of the former Sigmundsburg hunting lodge are hidden at the highest point. With a little imagination, you can hear the hoofbeats of the horses as they make their way back to Fernstein Castle. After admiring the Fernsteinsee lake, make your way back and enjoy this natural experience to the full.
