Scharnitzsattel 2.441 hm

Ascent: The starting point of the hike is the pass summit of the Hahntennjochstraße. To get there, we recommend using public transport or alternatively a cab service. To the left after the pasture grate, the hiking trail begins in a southerly direction through the Hahntennkar. The path winds up in serpentines and after a few minutes of walking you already reach the timberline. The last 100 meters of altitude to the Scharnitzsattel are very steep and gravelly. Shortly before the highest point of the hike, you have to climb up a kind of small "canyon" towards the saddle. The last part is largely secured with steel ropes and footholds. After about 2 hours of walking you reach the highest point of the hike, the Scharnitzsattel at 2,441m. 

Optional: Shortly before the Sattele, head east, always following the footprints, up to the summit of the Scharnitzkopf at 2561m. Here we expressly point out that the path should only be used by experienced hikers with a head for heights and surefootedness. 

Descent: On gravelly paths, the path winds its way over the Scharnitzkar down to the Guggersattele. Via Guggerrsattele you reach the Muttekopfhütte and further into the valley. From the Latschenhütte, follow the Jägersteig trail to the Untermarkter Alm and there follow the course of the trail via the Ursprungweg back to Imst.
