Travelling by train every day
Travelling by train
Travelling by train to the Outdoorregion Imst is not only environmentally friendly, but also extremely convenient. Imst has excellent connections to the railway network, as Austria's central east-west axis runs right through the middle of the region. The nearest major railway station is Imst-Pitztal, which offers regular connections to national and international destinations. But there are also plenty of options for your mobility on holiday thanks to the four train stations and stops in the region.
There is an official ÖBB ticket shop in our information office in Imst. We are happy to advise and support you with your ticket purchase and travel planning. If you prefer, you can of course also buy your ticket online on the Austrian Federal Railways website. Or you can download the app to your mobile phone and have your ticket purchase, timetable overview and all receipts conveniently in one place.

Park and Ride
Rail customers can obtain a free Park & Ride ticket for every ticket at the ticket counters and ticket machines. If you bought your ticket online, use your printed copy of the ticket. The receipts must be clearly visible behind the windscreen.

Bicycles can be taken on all ÖBB trains. However, there are a few points to bear in mind.
Bicycles can only be taken on board if there are free parking spaces. A parking space reservation is only possible on long-distance trains. Parking spaces for bicycles are located in 2nd class. So if you have a ticket for 1st class, you will be seated separately from your bike. Charging e-bike batteries is not permitted during the journey. If a train connection is cancelled and a rail replacement service with buses is set up instead, it is not possible to take your bike with you.
You can find more information about cheap group tickets for bike travellers, pick-up services and much more on the Austrian Federal Railways website.
Basically, the earlier you book your journey, the cheaper it is. If you buy your ticket online or with the ÖBB app, it is cheaper than if you buy your ticket at a ticket counter or ticket machine.
