The Muttekopfhütte is located at an altitude of 1,934 meters in the Lechtal Alps and is the highest hut in the hiking area of Hoch-Imst. It is only accessible on foot and is open only during the summer season.
Several routes lead to the Muttekopfhütte: From the UALM, one can reach the Muttekopfhütte in about 1.5 hours via the Latschenhütte, a path that is also suitable for families. For experienced hikers, the Drischlsteig from the Alpjoch mountain station offers a trail to the hut in about 40 minutes – however, freedom from vertigo and sure-footedness are required, especially when passing by the Adlerhorst, the famous viewpoint. Standing at the end of the 13-meter-long steel walkway in the "nest," you enjoy an incredible view of the Mutte area.
The Muttekopfhütte is known for its tranquility, its impressive location away from the hustle and bustle, and its authentic cuisine. Hut manager Patrick places special emphasis on regional and seasonal ingredients. The menu includes homemade cheese dumplings, East Tyrolean Schlipfkrapfen, and Beuschel with semmelknödel. Many ingredients come from small producers in the area, from the neighboring dairy, or even from the hut's own oven. You taste and feel this with every bite.
For overnight guests, the Muttekopfhütte offers accommodation for up to 60 people in cozy rooms and dormitories. The hut is also an ideal starting point for numerous hikes, climbing tours, and via ferratas. It is located directly on the Lechtal High Trail, the Adlerweg, and the E4 long-distance hiking trail.
