DIVE INTO MOUNTAIN WORLDS EVERY DAY

Diving in Tyrol's most beautiful water worlds

The transition between the stimulus-flooded world and the silence under water is fluid. Only the feeling changes instantly. Weightless, noiseless, timeless - there is so much going on in this fantastic world, and yet we encounter a mysterious loneliness with every breath we take. It is said that you lose your heart to the lake when you feel this elemental connection, the living essence inherent in every single drop. The feeling of seemingly flying, drifting and being. And so the fascination of diving draws us into its fabulous world, reminding us and changing us. So mystical, clear and natural. Just like the unforgettable diving areas that you won't find on the high seas, but right in the heart of the Imst outdoor region. Well-known, popular and sometimes shared as an insider tip, these diving spots are real gems and surprise anew every day.

The Fernsteinseh was voted one of the most beautiful places in Austria

The Fernsteinsee

The Fernsteinsee is not that far from Imst. A lake that is reminiscent of a mystical fairytale lake due to its beauty, originality and depth of colour. Like something out of a picture book, only real. With white-grey algae, overgrown tree trunks and sparkling water that catches the sun's rays and stores them like treasures in the depths of the lake bed. A unique freshwater spot, up to 17 metres deep, on the mountainous heights of the Fernpass.
As extraordinary as a diving paradise in the Alps can be. In addition to the enchanting natural beauties, some trout and char, divers will find three more surprises:

Hidden in the depths of the lake, three "treasures" are waiting to be discovered

The three "treasures" of Lake Fernstein

In addition to the enchanting natural beauties, some trout and char, divers will also find three surprises:

The mermaid: At the bottom of the Fernsteinsee, at a depth of ten metres, sits a large stone mermaid with flowing curls. The exact location (on the east side) is marked on the diving map.
The Madonna: A stone Madonna stands on the west side of Fernsteinsee, eleven metres deep. In front of it is a bouquet of flowers preserved in the lake water and a gravestone ("Klaus Mann, 1942 - 1986").
The cross: At a depth of around eight metres in Lake Samaranger, a large, striking stone cross stands like a tomb. Algae envelop it like a protective cloak.

Lake Samaranger

Lake Samaranger

Lake Samaranger See, the little brother of Lake Fernstein, lies practically next door in a dream location between gnarled trees, mountain giants and a historic pass road that carves its way through the landscape like a watercourse. The view is magical. Especially when the view stretches as far as 17 metres to the bottom of the lake. Tree trunks that have fallen into the water lie there like gigantic Mikado sticks. In some places, the bottom is covered in green like a forest floor. In other places, every branch, every stone, simply everything is covered in slime algae. Sounds unsightly? But it's fantastic to look at!
