Every day a Gangl

The Imster Buabefasnacht

With the Buabåfasnåcht, the young lads have their own carnival parade every four years, based on the Imst Schemenlaufen, which is reserved for adult men. Some of the taller lads can go to the Buabefasnacht wearing the clothes and mask of an adult carnival reveller, otherwise the costumes, larvae and other equipment of the Schemenläufer, such as the bells, are a few sizes too big for most Buabe. That's why the little carnival revellers have to have their own costumes made and larvae carved; often enough it's the parents of the boys who spare no expense or effort.

Info

The next Imst Buabefåsnåcht will take place on 1 February 2026 and will once again attract thousands of visitors to the cultural town of Imst. Book your accommodation early!

Tip

Little Rollers and Schellers perform their famous dance so elegantly that it warms the heart, and form a circle surrounded by Sacknern, Spritzers and Kübelemajen, the order masks that parents, teachers and female classmates in particular have chosen as victims of their orderly activities. Laggepaarle, witches, bears, Kaminer and the Labara join the party and parade towards the town square in the lower town. There the Buabefåsnåcht comes to a worthy end in the final circle.

The Buabåfasnacht is well worth a visit!
