Galtberg / Alpjoch Tour powered by Tatonka

As part of the "outdoor SUMMIT Imst" this hike starts in Hoch-Imst at the ice rink. From Hoch-Imst we take the cable car to the Untermarkter Alm hut. That's where the hiking trails starts in western direction to the Alptal valley, crosses the valley and leads up to the Galtberg. Over the ridgeline we hike up to the Hinteres Alpjoch and then to the Vorderes Alpjoch. The trail descends the grassy slopes of the Alptal on serpentines until the ridge can be crossed. Cross this ridge to the summit cross of the Vorderes Alpjoch. From the Vorderes Alpjoch we descend in serpentines past the avalanche protection structures to the top station of the Imst Mountain Lifts. Here we decide whether to take the cable car down to the starting point or hike back to Hoch-Imst via the Drischlsteig and the Muttekopfhütte.
