Bold, funky, multi-talented:

The Danish bassist, singer, and songwriter Ida Nielsen, a former member of two of Prince's backing bands – New Power Generation and the four-member rock band 3rd Eye Girl – is coming to Imst with her band The Funkbots.

A call from Prince in August 2010 changed her life. “I learned so much from Prince that it's hard to summarize in a few lines,” explains Ida Nielsen. “It was a huge gift and the most magical musical journey of all time. The most important thing Prince taught me was to always play from the heart!” Besides Prince, with whom she toured until his death in 2016, Ida Nielsen has named bassists like Marcus Miller, Mark King, Larry Graham, and Bootsy Collins as her slap bass role models.

“All my albums are bass-heavy old-school funk with influences from HipHop, Reggae, Neo Soul, and World music,” she says.

This promises to be a hot evening on May 20, 2026, at the Stadtbühne Imst. Ida has been voted one of the top ten bass players in the world.
