Satirical Tyrolean revue meets contemporary hammered dulcimer sounds: Mr. Feinripp Thomas Gassner presents his new novel between love for home and identity crisis - musically accompanied by Maria Ma.
After the great success at the Tyrolean folk plays in Telfs, Thomas Gassner's A Brief History of Tyrolean Humanity is now being published as a book. With sharp wit and affectionate malice, Gassner embarks on a satirical time journey through the Tyrolean soul: from the beginnings in eternal ice through peculiar crusades to the great myths, peculiarities, and self-images of a country caught between tradition, tourism, and the unshakable belief in its own legend. The musical counterpart is provided by Maria Ma, who connects folk music tradition and contemporary sound worlds with her distinctive approach to the hammered dulcimer. Together with Sebastian Wiesflecker on the electric guitar, floating melodies and earthy rhythms emerge somewhere between pop, jazz, and alpine world music.
Read by the Feinripp Ensemble & friends. The result is an evening that is as clever as it is entertaining, full of humor, music, and Tyrolean self-reflection – with plenty to smile about, occasional eye-rolls, and guaranteed enough material for discussions on the way home.
