A music legend who not only shaped jazz but continually reinvented it: The Tyrolean jazz scene honors Miles Davis' musical legacy on the occasion of his 100th birthday as a vibrant reinterpretation.

In May 2026, Miles Davis would have celebrated his 100th birthday. Few musicians have influenced the jazz of the 20th century as profoundly as the trumpeter, bandleader, and visionary. From the poetic soundscapes of the 1950s through the revolution of modal jazz to his electric and stylistically open late works, Davis was never content to stand still. His music was always searching for the next step – therein lies its fascination to this day.

With  Miles Smiles several prominent figures from the Tyrolean jazz scene celebrate Davis' extraordinary legacy: The collective retraces the key stages of his work but consciously does not see itself as a museum retrospective. Rather, vibrant reinterpretations emerge that capture the spirit of Miles Davis and bring it into the present.
