Jazz in dialect, profound improvisation, and a sound that sounds like more: Kaanthina, the young quartet around Katharina Kurz and Anna Schnegg, celebrates the seasons with the release of an autumn album.
Melancholic, playful, and with an unmistakable musical signature: Following their debut album, Shape of Mind, Kaanthina are breaking new ground and taking audiences on a musical cycle of the seasons. Autumn kicks things off: Between golden melancholy, harsh wind, and humorous lightness, the quartet unfolds a soundscape that combines jazz elements with dialect-tinged lyrics, improvisation, and stylistic diversity. Swing, bebop, reggae—anything that serves expression is allowed. And yes, jazz in the Paznaun dialect really does exist.
What once began as a duo at the Innsbruck Conservatory is now a finely tuned four-piece formation with the courage to be independent. Katharina Kurz (trumpet, vocals) and Anna Schnegg (piano, vocals) form the creative heart of the band, augmented by Darko Peranovic on bass and Urban Ihrenberger on drums. Together, they create music that is personal, surprising, and full of musical curiosity – a fresh concert evening that challenges the ear as much as it touches the heart.
