He is referred to as the Jimi Hendrix of folk music or the Frank Zappa of the Alps. He is compared to Piazzolla and Paganini, yet the musician from South Tyrol has created and developed a completely unique musical style over the years. We are talking about Herbert Pixner, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and namesake of the Herbert Pixner Project. Together with his congenial stage partners Manuel Randi (guitar), Werner Unterlercher (bass), and now with a new lineup featuring Alessandro Trebo (piano and keyboards) and Elisabeth Jamnik (harp), the Herbert Pixner Project has been one of the most successful representatives of "new and progressive folk music" for over twenty years. With playful-lascivious gentleness, powerful rock and blues riffs, brilliant technique, and ecstatic joy of playing, they have been captivating an ever-growing audience for years. Here, diverse soundscapes are woven, allowing space for gentle melancholy as well as for explosive outbursts. It sounds minimalist, rugged, epic, and authentic. With this unconventional mix, the "Herbert Pixner Project" electrifies its audience with each concert anew.
