Sweeping out, the end of carnival
"The Auskehren is the transition from the carnival hustle and bustle to normal life. In Tarrenz, some witches, bears, blacksmiths, sackers and originals still take part in the Auskehren, but there are no scooters or shouters. At night you can see almost nothing in the masks. There is greater freedom for the figures when sweeping out. More exuberance is possible."
"People parade down Trujegasse. The big witch is dragged to the village square onto a pile of snow. The figure is set alight there. The carnival ends when the community of witches fends off the flames." - Franz Neururer
