Under the motto Diaspora, the 29th Guinness Irish Christmas brings together three extraordinary acts that demonstrate how vibrant and diverse the Celtic music tradition sounds today – from the musical roots of Ireland to its offshoots in England and Canada.
Laoise Kelly (Ireland)Laoise Kelly is one of the most influential musicians in the Irish folk scene and has significantly shaped the Irish harp as a solo instrument. The multiple award-winning harpist has collaborated with Kate Bush and The Chieftains among others, blending technical brilliance with exceptional musical expressiveness.
The McGoldrick Family (Ireland/England)With the McGoldrick Family, one of the most renowned musical families of the Irish tradition takes the stage. Led by flute and Uilleann pipes legend Michael McGoldrick, a program unfolds that is filled with familial connection, musical virtuosity, and the tradition that has formed the backbone of Irish folk music for generations.
Cassie & Maggie MacDonald (Canada)The sisters Cassie and Maggie MacDonald bring the Celtic music tradition of Nova Scotia to the stage with full force. Fiddle, piano, guitar, two-part harmony singing, and spectacular step dancing merge into an energetic show that has already received numerous awards and is considered one of the most exciting live acts in the international folk scene.
