How to get there - We are easy to find approx. 30 min drive from the German border, 1.5h from Italy and 1h from Switzerland to the AlpenRetreat at the Tyrolean long distance pass Memmingen Airport (1 hour 20min away) Innsbruck Airport (50min away), Munich Airport (2h away) Bus connections from the nearby cities to our doorstep. (stop "Hotel Fernpasshöhe") 5 stations within 30 minutes driving time: Garmisch Partenkirchen, Füssen, Imst/Pitztal, Lermoos and Ehrwald Transfer from and to the surrounding airports is possible (a corresponding lump sum will be charged) by car Located on the Tyrolean long-distance pass, in the north-west of Austria, near the German border, the AlpenRetreat can easily be reached via the Fernpassstrasse B179 (E532).

The gas station Dolle is located at the far pass height. Opposite it are a red building ("Fernpass Rast" - snack/restaurant) and a large yellow house (former Fernpass Hotel). Follow the small road between red house and yellow house about 200m and you are already at the AlpenRetreat.

Course of the long-distance pass road

Füssen - Reutte - Heiterwang - Lermooser Tunnel - Fernpass (AlpenRetreat) - Nassereith. At the border tunnel Füssen there is connection in Germany to the federal road 310 and to the A 7. In Nassereith it continues as B 189 into the Inn Valley in a southeast direction to Telfs or in a southwest direction to Imst.

Winter tyres are compulsory in Austria. Although the Fernpass road is very well cleared and salted and is usually easy to navigate, there can be snowcrafts (very rare). Snow chains are required in exceptional cases. If you come with a rental car, make sure that the car is equipped with winter tyres (obligation of the rental car company).
