Everyone, not only religious believers, enjoys the delightful Easter traditions and customs. Holy Week is a very special time in Imst when people get together in preparation for the celebration of the Resurrection. At the centre of Imst’s traditional Easter festivities is the Calvary on the summit of which stands an ancient sacred site. Beautifully decorated chapels and shrines invite visitors to reflect and meditate. The magnificent Palm Sunday procession leads over the Calvary, as does the procession of believers on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. In the Pestkapelle (plague chapel), visitors can marvel at the ornately designed Holy Sepulchre. Numerous liturgical ceremonies, the traditional Easter concert in the Johanneskirche church and a Station of the Resurrection service leading from Imst Parish Church to Johanneskirche church on Easter Monday round out the spectrum of Easter festivities.
