Charming days in the heart of the Gurgltal Valley

Are you looking for a charming and authentic Tirolean mountain village? Indeed, you will be charmed by Tarrenz: the narrow streets are littered with rustic barns and old farm houses. Wherever you go in Tarrenz, you will find beauty and charm. The Gurgltal Valley is a time document and an undisputed natural jewel. Vist the beautiful Starkenberg castle or the mines in Knappenwelt Gurgltal. Discover the Salvesen ravine with its wild and romantic landscape. And let us not forget the idyllic Starkenberg Lake, near the famous brewery with its new visitors' attraction: the Beer Experience, where you can actually take a beer bath!
The region is also perfect for hiking and cycle tours. You can make delightful trips to Sinnesbrunn high above Tarrenz or the Frauenbrunnen Kneipp facilities Frauenbrunnen near Strad.

Welcome to Tarrenz!
Charming Tarrenz is known as the "village of witches" in the entire area.

But you need not worry, the only things you will be enchanted by are the hospitality of the Inhabitants (called the "Tarreter") and the natural beauty you are about to meet.

It is true that witches used to rule the streets in Tarrenz. That is all a matter of the past, though, and nowadays the only magical thing about Tarrenz is its unique location in the heart of one of the most beautiful regions you are likely to see.

So what about the witches? Oh, let us not forget: You might see them with your own eyes in February 2013, when the Tarrenzer Fasnacht Carnival will take place again after four years!
